Professor Giovanni Scapagnini, the co-founder of Orgaia, spoke at the TEDx Italy in the city of Campobasso about ageing strategies, nutrition and technologies. Prof Scapagnini has spent years studying the population of Okinawa in Japan and other communities around the world that live disease-free and over 100 years of age to understand the secrets of ageing and the genetic processes affected by nutrition. The talk explains what the variables that influence human ageing are and how we can fight certain related diseases. Graduated in Medicine in 1992, PhD in Neurobiology, Prof Scapagnini is currently Full Professor of Human Nutrition (MED 49).
Previously, Prof Scapagnini was Assistant Professor at the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, Rockville, Maryland (USA), as well as the Institute of Neurological Sciences of the National Research Council and visiting Professor at the University of Maryland in Baltimore (USA). He is also Vice-President of the Italian Society of Nutraceuticals (SINUT) and Deputy Scientific Director of the Sannio Tech Interuniversity Consortium (BN).
