Naturagenomics

SCIENCE FROM NATURE. ORGAIA WORKS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CELLS AND NATURAL NUTRITION AT GENOMIC LEVEL. WE CALL IT NATURAGENOMICS™.

Orgaia focuses its research on the development of ingredients that not only improve the quality of life but that act at cellular level for the prevention of disease. We have identified various areas of Nutrigenomics & Nutraceutical research to address society’s health problems and address the pathologies of ageing using natural ingredients in functional foods and dietary supplements.

Orgaia invests in structures and applications to use the most advanced scientific knowledge in genome sequencing, human biology, nutri-genomics, human ageing and epigenetics research to prevent, slow or invert pathologic cell decay and aging processes, thus offering immediate benefits to people and to society. It focuses in three areas:

Nature & Cell Science – Cell Governance

Simply put, you cannot be healthy unless your cells are healthy. Food has a profound effect on our health. Nutrients are dietary signals that are detected by cellular sensor systems that influence health status and well-being. A functional food ingredient can positively modulate body functions or reduce the risk of some diseases through biochemical mechanisms. Orgaia aims to improve the global health-nutrition paradigm by studying the effects of natural foods and food constituents on cell and gene expression. Orgaia’s NaturaGenomics™ research focuses on identifying and understanding molecular-level interaction between nutrients and other dietary bioactives with the genome linking health and nutrition science with superfoods and plants from nature.

Centenarian Research

Centenarians, in particular, have a history of aging slowly and delaying or sometimes escaping the chronic diseases of aging including dementia, cardiovascular disease (coronary heart disease and stroke) and cancer. The Orgaia scientific team leads in the global research on the connection between centenarians and nutrition by investigating the world’s longest lived people (elderly Okinawans in Japan). Okinawans have among the lowest mortality rates in the world from a multitude of chronic diseases of aging and as a result enjoy not only what may be the world’s longest life expectancy but the world’s longest health expectancy.

Personalised Health – Epigenetics

Genes tell a cell how to function and what traits to express. Epigenetics is the study of cellular and physiological variations (including external influences or stimuli) that are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence; it studies the dynamic alterations in the transcriptional potential of a cell. The growing analysis of personal genomes is leading to personalized medical treatment based on individual genotypes. Orgaia develops natural food and drink products, ingredients, supplements and solutions customized for an individual’s health, nutritional and cellular needs.
